“Looking Back Moving Forward”

10 x 15 minutes inserts for television

The series should promote an understanding of perspective through illustrating “Our Story” by telling “My Story” and comparing it to “Your Story”. It should allow us to explore the perspectives of “others” to better inform perspectives of our own.

The series objectives are:

  • To harness the potential of our diverse perspectives into a process that maps a way forward for our new nation

  • To empower young people to approach learning in way that will open new ideas and way of seeing

  • To instil pride in an entire generation of youth, all of who can share the African identity, and all of who will be instrumental in shaping the African Renaissance.

The series outcomes are:

  • The series should make learners celebrate issues of identity,
    heritage and unity in diversity.

  • The learner will be aware of the values of the Constitution including human rights, democracy and non-racialism.

  • It must fit in with the SABC Education and School TV brand on SABC 2.

  • It must be cost effective and sustainable with a ling shelf life. At the 2003 Sithengi Film Festival, a Tender invitation was published for proposals for the series
    "
Perspectives on and of Africa", "African Sky Mapping", and
    "Looking Back Moving Forward"
    .
